Where To Stay in Skopelos – Top 7 Skopelos Hotels

Skopelos is an island still little known outside the borders of Greece. Its tourism is mainly Greek, in particular family groups that, thanks to its proximity to the Greek peninsula, spend their holidays here. Although it is not too difficult to find accommodation on Skopelos, even cheaply, I always recommend booking in advance to have more chances to find good offers, a hotel with good position and services.

In general, the accommodations on the island are small family-run hotels, most of the apartments and rooms are managed by the inhabitants of the island. This gives a more real and less touristic taste of the island. If you are looking for discos and parties, this is not the most suitable Greek island. On the contrary, it is ideal for lovers of nature, greenery, animals (especially cats!) and the quiet, almost intimate life.

A Greek island where you can find peace and natural beauty. There are really few luxury hotels or tourist resorts on the island.

The island of Skopelos has few inhabited centers, the rest are small settlements near the beaches. The capital of the island, “Chora” or “Skopelos Town” is the liveliest and best served center of the island, with several shops, taverns and bars where tourists concentrate the hours after sunset. The port is the most famous area for its restaurants and bars.

Skopelos Town – Chora

Almost all tourists stay in Skopelos Town. In fact, in the small capital of the island, almost all the accommodation, souvenir shops, taverns and bars of the sila are concentrated. Although the nightlife is not very “lively” or rather almost non-existent, there are some bars where you can spend the night, after dinner in one of the excellent taverns.

It’s an ideal base for touring the island during the day and perfect for finding something nice to do at night: a dinner at the tavern, a walk and something to drink in one of the bars in the centre. The town of Skopelos is a charming town: its houses are simple and elegant. The balconies and the flowery courtyards offer some colour variations to the white and brown of the houses.

Skopelos Village – Comfortable and picturesque apartments/houses, directly on the beach, a few meters from the center and the port

Dolphin Hotel – Excellent location, spacious rooms and good price. With swimming pool.

Sunrise Village Hotel Apartments – Seafront apartments and studios just a few metres from the centre. Excellent quality/price ratio.

Aeolos Hotel – Sea view rooms, comfortable and with all services. A few steps from the centre, the port and the beach.

Note: The town of Skopelos has quite a few stairs, so I recommend the hotels near the port especially if they come with a lot of luggage.

Panormos – Best beaches

Panormos is another charming and pleasant little seaside resort. Famous for its beach, among the most beautiful on the island of Skopelos. It is an excellent area to find accommodation if you love sandy beaches, quiet and full of green.

It offers more accommodation options than the other coastal towns, including a 5 star hotel and a 4 star hotel. You will find restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the night.

Agnontas – Coast and beaches

Agnontas is a small town on the island of Skopelos, has a port that is used mainly when, due to bad weather, close the main port. It is a very quiet and quite small town, ideal to enjoy its beach, nature and its inhabitants.

It does not offer many accommodation options, which means fewer tourists! It is about 10 kms from Skopelos Town, so you can use it as a base to visit the island, especially if you are travelling by rental car.

Stamatia’s Garden – Small B&B immersed in the green, excellent position and atmosphere.

Neo Klima, Loutraki and Glossa – Total tranquility

If you are looking for small coastal towns of total relaxation and tranquility (without many tourist services) you can look for accommodation in Neo Klima, Loutraki, where the second port of the island and Glossa are located.

This affordable and family-friendly hotel is just a short distance away from the lovely Stafilos beach.
